Permanent Hair Reduction (FAQs)

Traditional hair reduction methods ( shaving, waxing, tweezing and creams ) are time consuming and must be repeated frequently. Until recently, the only effective method for long-lasting hair reduction was electrolysis, a slow and painful process in which follicles are individually destroyed by electrical current. Since 1995, however, lasers have proven to be effective in providing fast and long-lasting hair reduction.

The MeDioStar XT(tm) by Asclepion offers the ultimate in safe laser hair reduction technology even for darker skin types. The high power of the 810nm diode laser allows for larger spot sizes and ensures effective treatment down to the deepest follicle, while the laser’s unique double-pulsing technology guarantees preservation of surrounding tissue.

The pulse length is adjustable over a wide range up to 500ms and the spot size can easily be varied simply by changing the tip. The system automatically detects any spot size change and readjusts operating parameters. Integrated and monitored pre-cooling of the skin offers additional skin protection and comfort for the patient.

Acne Treatment (more treatment information)

Acne is a disease of the sebaceous gland of the skin. It is caused by clogged pores, increased sebum production and the presence of bacteria. This leads to a thickening or inflammation of the lining of the follicle, which results in different levels of acne including:

  • mild acne known as blackheads and whiteheads
  • semi-severe acne involving inflammatory papules and pustules
  • severe acne known as nodules and cysts, which can lead to acne scarring

Skin Rejuvenation (FAQs)

Over time, natural skin aging and exposure to UV radiation from the sun make superficial blood vessels visible and cause the skin to produce pockets of irregular pigmentation.

The PoLite II Intense Pulsed Light System by Quantel Medical uses interchangeable filters that selectively block out unwanted UV and blue radiation, safely delivering broadband light to target chromophores (melanin and hemoglobin) to treat conditions such as:
  • Facial telangiectasias
  • Flushing and redness
  • Rosacea
  • Poikiloderma (red neck)
  • Redness following laser skin resurfacing
  • Age spots and liver spots
  • Pigmented lesions
  • Scar coloration and general skin elasticity

Light is applied to the treatment area using a 10x20 mm sapphire wave guide that can be fired every two seconds, allowing for treatment of large areas, such as whole faces, hands, necks and decollates, shoulders and backs. Treating large areas not only addresses specific problem areas but also results in an overall improvement in skin texture, tone, pore size and collateral collagen building.

Treatments, which typically are provided in a series of sessions at two-week intervals, are painless. Patients can resume normal activities immediately. To maintain long-lasting improvement, follow-up care may include bi-annual maintenance sessions.

Unique among pulsed light devices, the ProLite II has been designed with safety in mind. The smart card guarantees stable output power throughout the lifetime of the flash and its exclusive pulse shaping technology maintains the temperature of target tissue, without overheating the epidermis, maximizing the therapeutic window. Filters can be easily interchanged so as individualize treatments, providing optimal filtration while achieving more dramatic results.

Collagen Building (FAQs)

The Aramis(tm) is the latest technology in non-ablative (woundless) collagen building. Infrared light is used to gently and painlessly heat the upper and mid portions of the dermis where collagen is located. This localized heating triggers an inflammatory process that tricks the body into producing new collagen. This neo-collagen gradually reduces and softens wrinkles and gives skin a younger and fresher look. Improvement is gradual and becomes noticeable after two to three months, although collagen production will continue to occur for up to 12 months.

The treatment is painless, and normal activities can be resumed immediately. Treatments are provided in a series of sessions, usually at four-week intervals. To maintain this long-lasting improvement, follow-up care may include bi-annual maintenance sessions.
